All that was going through my head when thinking of the title of this post was the Polar Bear Express scene where Santa gives the little boy his bell and declares:
“The First Gift of Christmas”
When the first new products arrive from the Annual Catalog it feels like Christmas! And this indeed was the very first card that I created with some of the new products. So, I declare:
“The First Card of the Annual Catalog”
Ahhhh… and those two, new, gorgeous In-Colors: Pale Papaya and Soft Succulent
This card was made using two different bundles; the sentiment, with the flower stamp and die from the Hand Penned Petals Bundle and the adorable scalloped rectangles from the Scalloped Contours Die set found in the Color and Contour Bundle. You will be seeing many more ideas using the Scalloped Contours Dies in the future.
A few Stampin’ Tips used to make this card:
- Use Basic Gray to stamp your image to get a little bit softer look. It’s definitely a bit softer than black.
- All parts of the flower were colored in with stamps, made to fit into the design of the flower, giving just the right amount of white space. I wanted a softer look, so, all colors are stamped second generation. Second Generation meaning: stamp off on scrap paper first then stamp on the image second to get a softer look.
- For the bottom layer, highland heather with white sprigs paper: cut this rectangle in half to appear longer. (pretty sneaky right?). Such an easy peasy thing to do.
- To give your flower a lift, add Stampin’ Dimensionals! One of my essential items I use on almost every card to add a little 3D look.
- Tie the ribbon around the white scalloped rectangle before adding adhesive.
- Keep a separate scissors on hand to use only on ribbon. This will give you a nice clean edge when cutting your ribbons. I have a Paper Snips (found in the ingredients section) marked to use only on ribbon.
