How about starting off the new year with a fresh desk calendar?
After making over 100 of these desk calendars for 2020, I wanted to share this little tutorial so you can make some, too 😊 It’s really not too late! In fact you can still get the attached mini calendars; just click on the direct link to Tailored Expressions below.
Basics that you will need:
Base Cardstock (Poppy Parade): 6 1/8″ x 4 1/4″
Whisper White Center Cardstock : 8 1/2″ x 3 3/4″ – Scored at 4 1/4″ and 2 1/8″ OR simply fold in half and fold on half in half again 😉
Narrow Strips of Pretty Paper : 1″ x 4″
Top Cardstock (Flirty Flamingo): 3 1/2″ x 4″
Scraps of Whisper White and Poppy Parade Cardstocks to create topper.
Mini Calendar purchased from Tailored Expressions
Mini Post-it Note pad (1/2 of one pad)
How did I choose my papers? I co-ordinated the papers with the mini Post-it Notes that I found in a local office supply store. I added the Amazon link below if you want these colors.
Start your Desk Calendar by taping the 1″ strips of pretty paper to the sides of the base card.
Now you can center the Whisper White cardstock between the pretty paper strips.
Run the top piece of cardstock ( Flirty Flamingo ) through the 3D Subtle Embossing Folder. Add a strong adhesive to the white base cardstock, as shown.
Place adhesive 1/4″ to 1/2″ above the bottom of the white cardstock so it won’t be seen.
Stamp the sentiment from the Very Versailles stamp set on Poppy Parade Cardstock with the Versamark ink pad. Sprinkle with White Embossing powder, tap off excess powder and heat to emboss with the heat tool.
Create the lovely white lacy detail and the ‘Have a Beautiful Day’ piece with dies from the Perfect Parcel Dies set. Use Dimensionals to give a lift to the sentiment piece.
Add an extra piece of adhesive to the back of the mini Post-it note pad. I used half of the note pad for each of the desk calendars.
I love how this one turned out, too, with Pool Party Cardstock (item #122924)
The Poppy Parade color with the Pool Party are really striking.
I used another sheet from the Peaceful Poppies DSP to use with Melon Mambo and Blackberry Bliss cardstocks shown on the right.
These were actually the first desk calendars that I made with papers from Perennial Essence DSP (149100) and Dinoroar DSP (149589)
These really are so easy to make. Add a little pack of Post-it notes and you are set! ( I used half of one color – click on the link to get your’s)
