I Love to make special occasion cards, especially for Family 🙂 I made this one for my sister-in-law, Leah, as we celebrated her Big 5.0… Woo Hoo!!! By putting an element of surprise on top of the card, wrapped like a gift, you just can’t go wrong! I love the Big News set of sayings for any celebration. The Melon Mambo pink was a must for this special card.
For the Cupcake surprise, I used our new Sprinkles of Life set of stamps. A special set for a special cause… this is our annual set designated to raise funds for the Ronald McDonald House Charities. With the purchase of this set, $3 will be donated to the RMHC.
To make the pull-out, I just took strips of whisper white cardstock, and started stamping candles…. and stamping candles…. I ended up needing 3 strips. I then figured out how wide the base was for the cupcake, and proceeded to score the strips to fit neatly under the top. If you look closely, I cut an opening to tuck the strip under.
To add a little fun to the candles, I pulled out my glitter collection and used yellow glitter with the two-way glue pen. Color the candles with the Melon Mambo ink and blender pens.
and ready to be wrapped-up like a gift. I actually didn’t have black seam binding, so I pulled my white seam binding ribbon over the black Staz On pad.
Don’t forget… this is only the top of the card… there is plenty of room on the inside of the card for personal messages and an envelope for a gift card.
